Leeds United are close to a deal for Jerry Mbakogu.

Leeds United have been linked with a move for Jerry Mbakogu since January and there could soon be a resolution.
Mbakogu plays for Carpi and his club president said on Monday evening that a provisional deal is signed with Leeds.
It may not drag on for too much longer either, with Stefano Bonacini adding that there is a deadline for the move.

Bonacini told Italian station TV Qui, reported by Calciomercato: “We have a pre-contract signed with Leeds, by the end of June 30th we have to close it and we expect he will play with them next year.”
Leeds approached Carpi over signing the striker in late January but a deal proved complicated due to work permit issues.
These have now been bypassed, with Mbakogu since being granted Italian citizenship.

This is the second time this week that Bonacini has talked his striker up for a switch to Leeds.
The Yorkshire Evening Post quoted Bonacini as saying: “Mbakogu should go to Leeds.
“He deserves a chance on an important stage – the second tier in England is not the Italian Serie B. He is ready to have an adventure in England.”
There is still evidently room for Leeds to back out of a deal, as it would seem the Whites’ option to purchase the striker would expire when it hits July.
Mbakogu is currently under contract at Carpi until 2020.
