Andreas Pereira could solve a crucial problem at Watford as he admits he’s unlikely to make it at Manchester United.
Watford should be on alert as Andreas Pereira has cast serious doubt over his future at Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old, currently on loan at Valencia, has made it clear he views his chances of claiming a first-team spot at Old Trafford unlikely but that he also doesn’t want to go out on loan again.
“It was a good experience (at Valencia). I now know what it’s like to fight for a place,” he is quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
“It strengthens you physically and mentally when you play week in, week out at the highest level. You don’t learn anything on the bench.
“However, I know I can’t claim a starting spot at Manchester United. All you have to do is look at the bench.”
He added: “All the options remain open, but I don’t want to be loaned again. I’ve shown what I can do. This summer, I want clarity. I want to be able to stay at a club for two to three years in order to build something.”
Pereira was at Granada last season before linking up with Valencia this term, and certainly looks in need of some more stability and regular first-team football at this important stage of his career.
Watford could be the perfect move for him and he’d also fill an important role for the Hornets as a recent slump in form has highlighted some of their issues in midfield.
Capable of playing centrally or on either flank, Pereira would surely represent a significant upgrade on the likes of Tom Cleverley and Etienne Capoue, while Richarlison has recently been linked with Manchester United by the Sun.
This surely opens up the possibility of a swap deal, and either way it seems likely Richarlison will need replacing, and Pereira is another exciting young player who could slot in seamlessly.
