West Ham United’s hopes of signing Anderlecht star Leander Dendoncker look to have been given a significant boost.

West Ham United look to have been given a major boost in their hopes of securing the transfer of Leander Dendoncker this summer.

The Hammers were known to be in for the Belgium international during the January transfer window and it now looks a near-certainty that he will be granted an exit at the end of this season.

Belgian outlet Sport Magazine reports that Anderlecht’s new owner Marc Coucke will look to make changes to the club’s transfer policy, and that is set to include cashing in on players to balance the books.

Given that the London Evening Standard suggested West Ham would be back in for Dendoncker after failing to sign him in the middle of the season, this looks like a real boost to David Moyes’ hopes of rebuilding his squad for next season.

West Ham have struggled at the wrong end of the table for much of this season and could do with a midfielder of Dendoncker’s quality in their ranks.

The 22-year-old really caught the eye in the Europa League last season, with his performances against Manchester United even leading to speculation that the Red Devils could be among his suitors in England, as reported by the Daily Mail earlier this season.

West Ham may not be alone in their pursuit of the talented midfielder but, if Anderlecht are ready to cash in on their prized asset, the Hammers should do all they can to get their man.
