West Ham left-back Patrice Evra’s quotes suggest Joe Hart is getting back to his best just as Arsenal should be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper.

Patrice Evra has spent his career playing with the very best in pretty much every position, but he also knows a thing or two about goalkeepers.

The veteran Frenchman, who joined West Ham on a free in February, notably had greats such as Edwin van der Sar and then David de Gea behind him in the glory days at Manchester United, before moving on to play alongside the legendary Gianluigi Buffon at Juventus.

With that in mind, it’s worth paying attention to Evra’s latest quotes on the form of team-mate Joe Hart, who was outstanding for West Ham in their recent draw away to Chelsea.

“When I first came I said to Joe ‘your time is coming, never give up’ and he was really confident,” Evra told West Ham’s official site.

“You can see in the game he played against Chelsea – he was man of the match, and that was well deserved. Even this week at the training ground he was still the man of the match!”

On loan with the Hammers from Manchester City, where Ederson’s superb form this season surely means he has no future, Hart’s recent improvement could mean he still has one last crack at playing for a top club, and for England.

One club in desperate need of a quality signing in goal this summer is Arsenal; once again in the Europa League last night, the ageing Petr Cech showed himself to be a liability with a costly error to allow CSKA Moscow to go 2-0 up and give the Gunners a real scare before they eventually turned it around.

Hart has had his struggles in recent times, but it’s hard to imagine the 30-year-old wouldn’t be an upgrade on Cech at the Emirates Stadium.

Evra’s comments suggest Hart is really starting to find his confidence again, and as his loan move comes to an end and his City future remains in doubt, it could be time for Arsenal to pounce for this proven performer of great quality and experience of winning at the highest level.
