With the Europa League clearly Arsenal’s priority now, it would be little surprise if Arsene Wenger made wholesale changes to his squad for Sunday’s big game against Manchester United.
According to the Metro, an injection of youth looks likely from the Gunners, with Reiss Nelson in the squad and among those who could get some time on the pitch.
The 18-year-old has managed 15 first-team appearances for Arsenal this season and looks one of the brightest prospects to come through their academy in recent years, though regular chances in the senior side still look like being some way off.
This means Nelson could surely be on the loan market in the summer, and that’s a particular market Newcastle United’s Rafael Benitez has utilised well at St James’ Park.
Indeed, one of this season’s Newcastle success stories has been the loan signing of Kenedy from Chelsea.And if a permanent deal cannot be struck for the Brazilian, then there’d be even more reason for looking into swooping for Arsenal’s Nelson as his replacement.
The England youth international can operate as a full-back, wing-back or attacking midfielder, so would surely get the first-team opportunities that Arsenal would like him to have to gain experience at this level.
It looks a real no-brainer for all involved, so if he does manage an appearance this weekend, Nelson could really be one worth watching for Newcastle.
