Arsenal have been in touch about signing Saul Niguez but he could be a more pressing need for Liverpool next season.

Liverpool may be in dreamland at the moment as they chase a sixth Champions League title, but they’re set to have urgent problems to address in midfield this summer.
Emre Can’s contract remains unsigned as he heads towards being a free agent at the end of this campaign, and while the Reds have coped well enough without him in recent games, he’ll be a tough act to follow at Anfield.
There’s plenty to be admired about the likes of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum, but a new top class all-rounder in the middle of the park surely has to be a priority for Jurgen Klopp in the next transfer window.
There are few better in the business right now than Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez, but Spanish outlet AS claim Arsenal have been in touch about a move for the player with a €150million release clause.

This is precisely the kind of deal Liverpool cannot miss out on if they are to make the step up to being genuine Premier League title contenders next season; while Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are legitimate A-listers up front, the rest of the squad largely falls short of being in that elite bracket.
Saul would change that and give the Merseyside giants the world class box-to-box player they’ve lacked since Steven Gerrard was at his pomp.
While this looks an ambitious deal with likely competition from Arsenal and other top clubs, Can’s situation means Liverpool should be keeping close tabs on the Spaniard’s movements in the coming months.
