Emre Can may now be reconsidering leaving Liverpool, but his timing speaks volumes about his character.

Liverpool fans could have some cause for celebration as reports emerge that Emre Can could now reconsider staying at Anfield.
Italian outlet Tuttosport suggest Can’s proposed move to Juventus is not looking as clear cut as it had, which makes sense given the immense improvement Liverpool have shown this season.
The Germany international is set to be a free agent this summer and would represent a great piece of business for most top clubs around Europe, so should Liverpool fans be glad he could now commit his future to them instead?

From a playing perspective, of course Liverpool would benefit from having a midfielder of that quality in their ranks, and it would surely save them a fortune trying to replace him in the transfer market.
And yet, Liverpool fans and indeed Jurgen Klopp himself would also be justified in feeling slight aggrieved that Can has delayed contract talks for this long in the hope of finding himself a better move.
Perhaps he’s now learning lessons from Philippe Coutinho, who jumped at the chance to move to Barcelona in the middle of the season and missing out on a genuine shot at Champions League glory in the process.

With probably just one or two signings in goal or defence this summer, Klopp will surely have Liverpool challenging for the Premier League title next season, and it looks like Can knows it.
Still, the Reds’ success under the German tactician has come from players being 100% committed to the cause, and they haven’t suffered from losing those who aren’t on board – even if they’re as good as Coutinho.
