Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that he can possibly see Raheem Sterling leaving in the summer amid rumours that the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona want to sign him, as he told talkSPORT (06/10/21 at 8:45 am).
The Manchester City winger has fallen out of favour under Pep Guardiola and it has now been suggested that Mikel Arteta wants him at Arsenal, as reported by the Daily Star.
Arsenal are more than a bigger club – bigger than the current Premier League champions – to attract a player like Sterling.
But, at this moment in time, there is no European football in North London, and if that continues next season then it will be pretty difficult to lure someone like Sterling towards their direction.
Given Sterling’s ‘outstanding’ record, Agbonlahor shared that he is baffled by his situation.
“I just don’t understand it,” said Agbonlahor. “At the Euros, he was our best player. He got us out of so much trouble with his goals.
“Even for Manchester City, his stats and performances have been outstanding.
“There is talk about Barcelona and other clubs, and maybe that’s something he looks at in the summer.
“But, at the moment, I am pretty sure he will want to get his place back in the side.”

Arteta did coach Sterling at the Etihad, so they do have that personal relationship with one another.
But Arsenal have to, for a minimum, get Europa League football in order to lure him towards their direction.
However, a lot of things have to fall in their favour, including the player’s situation worsening to the point where he just has to leave.
Even if Arteta doesn’t get his man, the Gunners still need to stick their chest out and try to sign those big names in order to get back to the top.
