Speaking on Sky Sports News (16/6/21 9:00AM), Clinton Morrison has been speaking about Harry Kane and his future at Tottenham.
Morrison was reacting to the Premier League fixtures being announced, and of course, one of the questions on everyone’s minds was whether or not Harry Kane will still be a Tottenham player on the opening day of the season.
Morrison seems to believe that Kane will be on his way this summer, but the thinks he may have been convinced to stay if Tottenham’s pursuit of Antonio Conte had been successful.
What’s been said?
Morrison predicted that Kane would be joining Manchester City this summer.
“It’s difficult to be fair, maybe if Conte went in they would have had a chance of keeping Harry Kane, but now I’m not sure, I think he wants to move, he wants to win trophies, he’s getting to an age now, I’m not saying time is running out, but he wants to win trophies. He’s a brilliant goalscorer and there’s a lot of clubs looking at him. I can see him going to somewhere like Man City and making them even stronger, but if he does stay at Tottenham, you know what you’re going to get from him.”

Conte’s influence
Bringing Antonio Conte to Tottenham would have been a real statement of intent, and unfortunately, an appointment like Paulo Fonseca isn’t as inspiring.
Now, we’re not saying Fonseca is a bad manager, but he isn’t a proven winner at the top level in the same way Conte is, and with Kane desperate to win trophies, he has to be wondering whether or not his future lies away from Tottenham.
The Harry Kane saga will certainly be one to keep an eye on this summer.
