Jose Mourinho has joked on TalkSPORT that Mateo Kovacic may leave Chelsea and sign for Tottenham Hotspur now that he has left.
Mourinho’s and Kovacic’s careers have rather shadowed each other, with the pair linked with similar clubs.
However, Mourinho has never actually managed the Croatian international which upsets him.
And he has now suggested that the Chelsea man could well join Tottenham, as he has left the club.
“Kovacic, I always feel he is much better than what people think,” he said.
“I’m very upset with him because he’s played for every club I’ve been at, but never with me. He played for Madrid, but not with me. He played for Chelsea, but not with me. He played for Inter, but not with me.

“I love the guy and the guy follow my clubs. Maybe he goes to Tottenham next season!”
No chance
Of course, Tottenham don’t actually appear to stand a chance of signing Kovacic any time soon.
After Mourinho’s comments it may not be the biggest surprise if Roma took an interest in him at some stage though.
Chelsea, however, are unlikely to be willing to listen to any offers for the 27-year-old, who they signed for £40 million (BBC Sport).
Kovacic has played an important role under Thomas Tuchel, with his class in possession shining through.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are likely to have an interest in signing a central midfielder this summer, as the likes of Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko face doubts over their futures.
