Dean Smith has been speaking ahead of Aston Villa’s clash with Manchester City tomorrow night, where he mentioned West Ham and Leicester.
The Villans boss seemed to suggest that England’s biggest clubs are getting a little bit territorial in regards to the success of the Irons and the Foxes.
Speaking amidst the drama caused by the European Super League, Smith said: “Maybe the big clubs look at the league table and don’t like Leicester and West Ham in the top four.”
In our view, he has a point.
The likes of Arsenal and Tottenham probably feel threatened by the success of Brendan Rodgers and David Moyes’ men this season.
While the underperforming north London pair languish closer to mid-table than the top of the Premier League, they may be feeling a bit envious.

As a result, those in Arsenal and Tottenham’s boardrooms are seeking every possible avenue back to the top of the game, hence their involvement in the Super League.
If that is the case, it’s disgusting.
You can’t just fast-track your way to the top, when clubs like West Ham and Leicester have had to work their socks off to barge into the top six.

Football is a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, in which romantic stories like Leicester winning the Premier League are what we all want.
That is, unless you’re Daniel Levy, John Henry, Joel Glazer or Stan Kroenke, it seems – all of whom should be ashamed of themselves.
