Speaking on the Anfield Watch YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Liverpool and any potential player sales this month.
The Reds could be set for a busy transfer window, and while everyone is excited about potential new additions at Anfield, there may well have to be a few player sales on Merseyside.
Indeed, the likes of Divock Origi and Nat Phillips may be on the move this month, but Romano says that Liverpool supporters shouldn’t be expecting any sales imminently.
The journalist claims that any sales are more likely to come at the end of the month as Liverpool prepare to lose three key players to the African Cup of Nations.
What’s Romano said about Liverpool selling players?
Romano claims that Liverpool won’t sell players until the end of the window.
“I heard a lot of rumours on this. Origi as always and then Nat Phillips, but the African Cup of Nations will create some problems because Salah, Mane and Naby Keita, it’s not easy to lose these players. I’m not sure whether or not they will allow players to leave early or in the coming weeks. Maybe at the end of the window these players will leave, Nat Phillips in particular will want an opportunity, but at the moment it is not something advanced.”

Smart strategy
This is exactly how Liverpool should be approaching any potential departures this month.
The Reds know how difficult it is when you’re caught short – just look at their defensive injury crisis last season, and they’re seemingly not risking that this time around.
Players such as Phillips and Origi could probably do with finding a new club, but Liverpool have to make sure they’re definitely not needed before they sanction any sales.
