The Uruguayan striker is said to have caught the eye of Tottenham Hotspur this season.

Maxi Gomez has responded to speculation linking him with Tottenham Hotspur.
The Celta Vigo striker has scored more goals this season [13] than any player aged 21 and under in Europe’s top five leagues, and his form is said to have alerted other clubs including Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs.
Lucky for Tottenham – who reports claim could be in the market for a line leading centre forward after Fernando Llorente’s struggles this campaign – Gomez has told AS he would be open to such a move.

“I try to watch a lot of football and learn from the greats. We are here for that,” the 21-year-old said when asked about the possibility of becoming a Spurs player. “The truth is that the English league is very nice. It is stronger, more powerful. It would be good to go there.”
Gomez only moved to Celta from Defensor Sporting in his native Uruguay last summer, and according to AS he is among the Galician side’s lowest earners – taking home less than £7,000 per week.

The 21-year-old’s contract is also said to contain a termination clause of £44 million, which could be worth paying given the saving Tottenham are likely to make on his wages.
