Max Verstappen might have featured in the F1 movie, but he wasn’t able to attend the premiere for a very good reason.

Last year, Formula 1 captured the imagination of fans all over the world, as the F1 movie became one of the biggest summer blockbusters of 2025.

Max Verstappen was one of the drivers who was part of the movie and even got an invite to the premiere. However, he missed the event for a reason only Verstappen would see as fitting.

Max Verstappen missed the F1 movie premiere to help GT3 teammate Chris Lulham

During a recent livestream with the Verstappen GT3 team, Max Verstappen was asked whether he had seen the F1 movie yet.

Verstappen immediately responded that he hadn’t, before his GT3 team member, Chris Lulham, forced him to reveal that the four-time world champion opted to work on his car instead of attending the premiere.

Question: “Have you watched the F1 movie?”

Max Verstappen: “No.”

Chris Lulham: “There was a place where you could watch it, but what were you doing that day?”

Verstappen: “I was setting up your car!”

Max Verstappen’s GT3 fascination continues to grow amid F1 frustration

While Max Verstappen is set to participate in GT3 racing with his team this weekend, his involvement in the sport has been more pronounced over the last year.

Verstappen took part in a race at Nurburgring a few weeks ago, even managing to win the race before being disqualified for exceeding the tyre limit.

Some fans believe Verstappen’s recent fascination and participation with GT3 racing is due to his frustration with Red Bull’s disappointing performance and the new F1 regulations.

Verstappen has been outspoken on both matters, even going as far as to publicly contemplate retirement from the sport.

Perhaps partaking in other forms of racing has provided Verstappen with an outlet and a way to pursue his motorsport passion without any of the frustration he faces in Formula 1.
