Max Aarons move could give Spurs devastating future full-back pairing

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Max Aarons during the January transfer window.

It was reported by The Sun over Christmas that Tottenham are eyeing a potential £15 million move for Max Aarons as he continues to impress in the Championship this season.

The 18-year-old has featured regularly for Norwich this term, helping Daniel Farke’s men put themselves in the automatic-promotion places. He has scored two goals and provided three assists in 19 league appearances for the Canaries this year.

The Sun suggests that Spurs are plotting a £15 million bid but may have to agree to loan Aarons back to Norwich for the rest of the campaign if they hope to get a move across the line.

It may surprise some that Tottenham are keen on Aarons. In Kieran Trippier, Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters, Mauricio Pochettino has an incredible amount of talent in that area of the field.

But Aarons is proving to be one of the most exciting talents in the second tier, especially as he only made his senior debut this season.

And perhaps, in Aarons and Walker-Peters, Pochettino could have the kind of future full-back pairing that could go on and become a devastating combination for Spurs.

Walker-Peters showed his potential with a stunning performance against Bournemouth on Boxing Day, providing three assists in the 5-0 win. Importantly, he also looks more than comfortable when it comes to playing on the other flank.

In future years, Walker-Peters’ versatility could open the door for both youngsters to get into the same Spurs lineup, though, Aarons is also capable of playing on the left.

And given the form that both men have shown, it really appears that Tottenham could have something special on their hands if they manage to agree a deal with Norwich for Aarons.
