Dinos Mavropanos is something of a forgotten man at Arsenal.

The big Greek centre-back joined the Gunners during Arsene Wenger’s reign three years ago but has only managed seven Premier League appearances since.

He wasn’t a prominent figure under Unai Emery and the same applies to current Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta who, along with Edu, loaned him to Stuttgart last summer.

Mavropanos is due to return to North London at the end of this season and it looks like he’ll come back a better, more experienced defender because his spell in the Bundesliga is going very well.

The 23-year-old, who has made 11 league appearances this season, played 85 minutes on Saturday as the German side won 1-0 away to Cologne.

Mavropanos reacted to the victory on Twitter last night and here’s how some Arsenal fans responded to him.

Many more fans of the Emirates Stadium side will have completely forgotten about the big man.

But Arteta and Edu got rid of two centre-backs in January – Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi – and with David Luiz only having a few months left on his contract, and William Saliba’s long-term future very much up in the air, there may be a window of opportunity for Mavropanos next season if he has a solid end to the campaign in Germany.
