West Ham United reportedly want Michy Batshuayi, with Manuel Pellegrini keen on the striker.

Maurizio Sarri, Manager of Chelsea looks on prior to the Premier League match between Chelsea FC and Everton FC at Stamford Bridge on November 11, 2018 in London, United Kingdom.

West Ham United must be pleased with Maurizio Sarri’s latest comments to the Telegraph about Michy Batshuayi.

The Daily Mail claim that West Ham want Batshuayi in the January transfer window, with Manuel Pellegrini looking to upgrade his attack.

With Chelsea struggling for a number nine, there had been fears that Batshuayi could be given another go at Stamford Bridge.

However, Sarri has seemingly ruled out terminating bringing Batshuayi back into contention, which opens the door for West Ham.

“No, because I have the option with (Eden) Hazard in this position,” Sarri said, when asked if he needed Tammy Abraham or Batshuayi this season. “We have (Alvaro) Morata and Hazard who can play very well in this position, as we have seen in the last two or three matches.

“So I think that at the moment I don’t need another striker.”

West Ham could now be hoping that Sarri’s snub of Batshuayi is an indicator that they could buy him.

Manuel Pellegrini wants to bring in a new number nine, and Batshuayi is thought to be near the top of his wishlist.

If West Ham did sign Batshuayi he could be another expensive addition to a squad which is starting to show its potential in recent weeks.

The Hammers made some excellent signings over the summer, and Batshuayi’s arrival would increase excitement even further around the London Stadium.
