Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has spoken highly of Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen to The Express.

Sarri, who was appointed the Chelsea manager in the summer, has suggested that he would love to sign Eriksen from London rivals Tottenham.

The former Napoli manager made the comments ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League match against Chelsea at the Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday evening.

Sarri told The Express when asked which of the current Tottenham side he would like in his line-up: “Of course Harry Kane is the best English striker in the moment, so a very important player.

“If I had to say another name, I like Eriksen very much. He is a very smart player, a very technical player.

“He’s able to play in midfield and, at the same time, score eight or nine goals in a season. He is a very important player.

“I like him very much, but I don’t want to talk about a Tottenham player for the market.”

Quality footballer

Eriksen is one of the best and most creative midfielders in the world and has been on top of his game for a number of years.

The 26-year-old has provided two assists in six Premier League starts for Tottenham so far this season, according to WhoScored.

During the 2017-18 campaign, the former Ajax star scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists in 37 league appearances for Spurs, according to WhoScored.

Eriksen would be a great addition to the current Chelsea team with already has some superb attacking players such as Eden Hazard and Pedro, but it is hard to see Tottenham selling one of their most prized assets to a London rival.
