Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media ahead of his side’s clash with Cardiff City today, and responded when asked to elaborate on the severity of Erik Lamela’s injury, as quoted by Football.London.

The 26-year-old has not played for Spurs since their fine 6-2 win away at Everton on December 23rd, and considering his past injury problems, any spell that he spends on the sidelines now is met with trepidation from everyone involved with the club.

Tottenham currently sit in third spot in the table, nine points adrift of league leaders Liverpool, and having Lamela back and available as soon as possible will be vital to their hopes of sitting top of the pile come the end of the season.

The Argentine has proven to be instrumental for Spurs this season, and he offers Pochettino an entirely different option to what he otherwise has available to him in the final third.

The Tottenham boss spoke to reporters, and responded when asked how bad Lamela’s injury is, as quoted by Football.London:

“I don’t know, I cannot confirm.”

Tottenham fans will be hoping that Lamela returns to action sooner rather than later, with an important few months lying in wait for their side.

The 26-year-old’s current absence will be a real concern for Poch and his staff, and he will be hoping that his side can cope without the Argentine over the next few weeks.
