Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media today, ahead of his side’s clash with Chelsea on Saturday, and responded when asked whether he believes that Christian Eriksen is the best Premier League signing of all time, as quoted by Football.London.

The 26-year-old joined Spurs from Ajax in the summer of 2013, for a fee believed to be worth somewhere in the region of £12.5 million, and he has gone on to rack up an impressive 57 goals and 73 assists in 239 appearances in all competitions.

Considering the Dane’s quality, £12.5 million now seems like an absolute snip, and he must surely be worth at least six or seven times that amount today.

Pochettino addressed the media today, and responded when asked whether the Tottenham play-maker is the Premier League’s best signing of all time, as quoted by Football.London:

“I don’t know. It’s difficult to judge in this way. Five years ago, £11m means 100m today, with Brexit and all that effect on the political situation in Europe. I don’t know. In this transfer market 5 years ago, Eriksen was £11m, so I don’t know what another player costs! It’s true C is a very good player and when he was signed he was a prospect, a very good player at Ajax but still young and Tottenham provided a very good platform to develop his quality. Eriksen and Tottenham, and Tottenham and Eriksen was a very good mix. Good for Tottenham, good for Christian Eriksen. That’s why I hope Christian continues to develop his career his with Tottenham.”

Eriksen’s contract with Tottenham expires in the summer of 2020, and Pochettino will surely be desperate to tie the Denmark international down to a new long-term deal as soon as possible.
