Paris Saint-Germain’s Serge Aurier is reportedly wanted by Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain defender Serge Aurier in the summer transfer window.
Following the departure of Kyle Walker to Premier League rivals Manchester City earlier this summer for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £54 million, it is clear that Spurs need to sign a replacement right-back.
According to The Guardian, Tottenham have agreed a deal with PSG and Aurier over a £23 million transfer.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, though, is not giving anything away, as he refused to confirm or deny speculation that the North London outfit want to sign the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international right-back.
“That is rumour,” Pochettino told Football.London when asked about Aurier. “We cannot confirm nothing until something happens.
“There are many, many players like always in the media. But you know I can confirm nothing. I never speak about rumour.
“Always my full respect always to other clubs or players that are in maybe in negotiations with us or other clubs.”
Aurier is a good defender and is hugely experienced, and he would be a good signing for Tottenham.
The Ivory Coast international is still quite young, and Pochettino could improve him – just as he improved Walker and Danny Rose among other players over the past three or so years.
Spurs will be aiming to win the Premier League title this season, as well as progress to the last 16 of the Champions League.
