Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino was asked about the controversial incident involving Granit Xhaka at Arsenal this afternoon.
Xhaka started the Premier League game between Arsenal and Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium last weekend.
The 27-year-old midfielder was substituted in the 61st minute, and when the Switzerland international was being taken off, he was booed by the fans.
The former Basel star was not happy at all at the treatment from the fans, and he made his feelings clear.
Xhaka has since released a statement about the incident on Instagram and has apologised for the way he reacted.
The midfielder also outlined the abuse he has been getting from fans at matches and on social media.
Tottenham manager Pochettino was asked about the incident involving Xhaka, and he suggested that he does not know about it.
When asked if fans forget the pressure players are under after Xhaka incident, Pochettino told Football.London: “I cannot talk specific about one situation you are asking me now. To be honest I didn’t see the action and didn’t see the situation.
“I cannot talk with all the arguments, but we understand very well that every single players and every single coaching staff are under pressure. When the fans are in the stand the emotion is there and in our side we need to understand.”
Back in action
Arsenal will face Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the Premier League on Saturday, while Tottenham will take on Everton away from home at Goodison Park in the league on Sunday.
