Manchester City were too good for Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley last night.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media last night in the aftermath of his side’s disappointing 3-1 defeat to Manchester City, and responded when asked if his side are capable of reaching the levels of Pep Guardiola’s team, as quoted by Football.London.
Spurs never got out of the blocks last night, and found themselves 2-0 down inside the first 25 minutes against the champions elect.
Many fancied the Lilywhites to pile even more pressure on Guardiola, with his City side having lost their last three games in all competitions, but as the old saying goes, beware the wounded animal.
The Citizens now need just three more points to wrap up the Premier League title, whilst Tottenham still have a fight on their hands to finish inside the top four.
Pochettino’s task next season will be to find a way of competing with City – something that he admitted to reporters will be incredibly hard to achieve, as quoted by Football.London:
“I think you know, the people know, we know, that of course we are working in a different way to them. We cannot compare to them. Of course we need to work hard to try to achieve or reach the level of Manchester City. I think we still need to work a lot and of course, in the way that we try maybe one day we can reach.”
Next up for Spurs is a trip to Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday night, and nothing less than a win will do, with Chelsea now just seven points behind them in the table.
