Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he has not spoken to on-loan striker Vincent Janssen since he left for Fenerbahce in the summer.

The Netherlands international scored only twice in the Premier League in his debut season at Spurs and has not fared any better in Turkey, with two goals in nine matches.

His time with Fenerbahce has been hampered by injuries and Turkish newspaper Fanatik understand that a niggling toe problem could sideline him for a further three months.

The report adds that Janssen may return to Spurs for treatment, but Pochettino has admitted that he knows nothing of the 23-year-old’s movements because they haven’t been in contract.

Football London quote him as saying: “When is he coming back? No, he’s not coming back. He’s injured. Maybe you know better than me? But I don’t see him since the summer, I haven’t met him again. I don’t know.”

That Pochettino has not been touching base with Janssen throughout his loan spell suggests that the Tottenham boss has given up on the Dutchman’s career in North London.

Spurs have still yet to find adequate back up for Harry Kane, with Janssen’s replacement Fernando Llorente also struggling, but the 23-year-old showed little in his time in England to suggest he could come good upon his return.
