Tottenham Hotspur beat Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that he won’t be cheering on Arsenal against Manchester City today.
Spurs took on Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon, and were hoping to build on a late win over Watford in midweek.
It proved to be a frustrating afternoon for Spurs as they struggled to break down Newcastle, and looked to be heading towards a first draw of the season.
However, Son Heung-min pounced late on to snatch all three points, giving Spurs a 1-0 win with another late show at Wembley.
The result has put Spurs back above Manchester City in the Premier League table, meaning they now sit just four points behind league leaders Liverpool.
Of course, City take on Arsenal today whilst Liverpool take on West Ham United on Monday, meaning Spurs may be dropping back down and further off top spot again soon.
In that sense, Spurs may benefit from an Arsenal win today, and Pochettino was asked whether he will be cheering on Tottenham’s biggest rivals today.
Unsurprisingly, Pochettino incredulously suggested that he would ‘never’ support Arsenal in any game, and will simply accept whatever result materialises.
“No! Why? Never! No,” said Pochettino when asked if he’ll support Arsenal today. “I will watch the game and won’t be on one side or another. I am going to watch the game and accept whatever the result is,” he added.
