Vincent Janssen has only scored once in his first nine appearances for Tottenham Hotspur.
Mauricio Pochettino has urged Tottenham Hotspur fans to be patient with Vincent Janssen in the Hampstead and Highgate Newspaper.
Janssen has made a disappointing start to his Spurs career, after signing from AZ Alkmaar in the summer.
The Dutch striker is yet to score from open play, with his only goal being a penalty against Gillingham in the EFL Cup.
However, Pochettino insists that he is pleased with the impact that Janssen has made so far – and he believes the 22-year-old will come good at White Hart Lane.
“We are happy with the way he’s working,” Pochettino said.
“It’s true he needs to score because always a striker [needs to score], like what happened with Harry Kane. But only be patient – he’s working and he’s adapting his qualities in a new club and a new league. That’s always difficult, but we’re happy with the way he’s working.”
Janssen is under pressure to start firing for Spurs, as he has been handed a run of starts now.
With Harry Kane out injured, Tottenham are in need of finding a player who is capable of leading the line.
Tottenham’s next match comes against Manchester City on Sunday, and if Mauricio Pochettino’s side are able to win in that contest, they would close the gap on the league leaders to just one point.
