Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told the Metro that Dele Alli is unlikely to be fit to face Huddersfield Town tomorrow.

Alli had to come off during Tottenham’s Champions League victory over Manchester City in midweek, when he fell awkwardly on his hand and broke two bones.

Spurs are currently working on getting a splint built to protect Alli’s hand.

But Pochettino says that Saturday’s game may come too soon for Alli to feature.

The Argentine boss said: “He broke his hand and we need to assess today and see if he can be involved tomorrow.

“I am not optimistic but we’ll see. We cannot say today if he is going to be available in the squad tomorrow.”

If Alli does miss out on playing tomorrow the hope is that he will be back fit for next week.

Tottenham need to beat Huddersfield Town to keep their top four hopes alive, but the test awaiting them against City next week is likely to be greater.

Tottenham have a 1-0 lead to protect when they head to the Etihad Stadium, and Alli could be vital – especially with Harry Kane out.

If Alli does miss out on playing tomorrow, Lucas Moura looks likely to come into Tottenham’s staring line-up.
