Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told the club’s official website that he and the entire squad were happy to see striker Vincent Janssen score against Millwall on Sunday afternoon.
Spurs coasted into the semi-finals of the FA Cup with a 6-0 win over League One Millwall, with Son Heung-min stealing the headlines with a superb hat-trick.
Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli also got on the scoresheet as Harry Kane suffered what looked to be a nasty ankle injury, whilst Vincent Janssen also found the net with a cool finish.
The Dutch international striker has endured a tough time since joining Spurs from Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar last summer, where he hit 31 goals in 49 games before his big move to England.
Before Sunday’s clash, the 22-year-old had scored just four goals in all competitions, and they were all penalties, leaving Janssen waiting for his first Tottenham goal from open play.
That finally arrived against Millwall, as Son found Janssen inside the box and he placed a left-footed effort into the corner of the net, sparking celebrations from fans and team-mates as well as relief from Janssen himself.

It was a bright cameo from the striker, who will be hoping to feature after Kane’s injury, and manager Mauricio Pochettino commented on the goal after the final whistle at White Hart Lane.
Pochettino told the Tottenham official website that Janssen had ‘suffered a lot’ in this run of not scoring from open play, but he and Janssen’s team-mates were ‘very happy’ to see him find the net against Millwall – and Pochettino will be hoping that this is the turning point for Janssen.
“When a player suffers a lot, when you don’t score when you are a striker, it’s always a tough period in your career and for that reason, all the team-mates were very happy to see him score again,” said Pochettino.
