Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez has impressed during his first season in English football.

Spurs snapped up Sanchez for £42 million from Ajax at the start of the season, and Pochettino had been tipped off about the centre-back’s conscientious attitude.
However, the Argentine boss has been very pleased with the way that Sanchez has performed on the training ground, as he is so willing to take on board advice.
Pochettino said: “He’s a player that’s young but he’s always trying to improve and learn. It surprised us because we had a lot of information about his character but I think he surprised us much better than we expected because he’s always available to learn, to improve.

“He accepts criticism, corrections, and that for me is the most important thing. Of course the characteristics of the player is he’s fast, he’s aggressive, he plays very well with the ball, and at 21 years old I think he’s showing a great maturity. But he needs to keep his feet on the grass because he’s still so young and it’s easy to go backwards if you don’t manage in your head all this type of praise.”
Pochettino has generally eased Tottenham’s new signings into life gently, but Sanchez was thrown in at the deep end from the moment he signed.
The powerful centre-back has been a regular feature in Spurs’ starting line-up throughout the season, and he has caught the eye.

Sanchez looks to have all the qualities to become one of the top defenders in world football, and he has enjoyed a remarkable first campaign in England for a 21-year-old.
Sanchez will surely be part of Spurs’ starting line-up again at the weekend, when Pochettino’s side take on Stoke City, looking to consolidate their place in the top four.
