Moussa Sissoko has endured a miserable time since joining Tottenham Hotspur.

Mauricio Pochettino has, perhaps surprisingly, suggested that Moussa Sissoko remains in Tottenham’s plans for the coming season despite his miserable first year with the club, the Daily Mail reports.

The Frenchman arrived at White Hart Lane for a fee of £30 million last summer, the Mail reports, but endured a tough season, contributing just two assists in the Premier League and failing to score in any competition for Spurs.

The Mail adds that Sissoko has been linked with a move away from Tottenham this summer – with West Brom interested – as the club seemingly look to cut their losses on the former Newcastle man, and speculation grew further as he was left out of the squad for their tour of America.

But Pochettino has suggested that any speculation is actually wide of the mark, and the 27-year-old is set to remain at Tottenham beyond the summer.

“He’s training at the training ground,” he said, as reported by the Mail. “He’s a member of the squad.”

“He’s in his plans for the season and he is for us a member of the squad.”

Though Sissoko has shown his quality during his spells at Newcastle and for France – most notably, shining during their run to the Euro 2016 final – it is perhaps a surprise that Pochettino is not willing to cash-in on him as it would take a dramatic up-turn in form for Sissoko to start justifying Tottenham’s decision to spend so much on him.

But with Pochettino showing patience with other players who have made slow starts to life at Tottenham, perhaps it should not shock fans that he is willing to keep persevering with Sissoko.

Whether he will be as keen to keep him if a substantial bid comes in however, remains to be seen.
