Tottenham Hotspur signed the right-back three years ago.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters yesterday, and admitted that there has been a certain amount of luck involved in Kieran Trippier’s rise to the very top fo the game, as quoted by Football.London.
Spurs signed the 27-year-old from Burnley in the summer of 2015, for a fee of just £3.5 million, and the right-back has gone on to firmly establish himself as one of the world’s best attacking full-backs.
Trippier had to be patient during his first two years with Tottenham, however, playing mostly as Kyle Walker’s understudy, but after the Sheffield-born ace joined Manchester City last summer, the former Burnley man really came into his own.
Pochettino discussed the England international’s magnificent form over the past 12 months, when speaking to reporters, and suggested that there has been a certain amount of luck involved in his rise to the top, as quoted by Football.London:
“Sometimes things happen, sometimes you’re lucky and of course when we signed Kieran, we were trying to challenge Walker. We improve them and give them better tools to improve, but sometimes we need luck too and he deserves the credit because he made the effort to improve and step up his career.”
Trippier will have a vital role to play for Tottenham this season, considering the fact that Pochettino failed to strengthen his squad during the summer transfer window, and he has already proven that he can have a real influence on his side’s play in the final third as well as the defensive side of the game.
