Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has suggested to Football.London that Harry Kane may not play against West Ham United this week.

Spurs will take on London rivals West Ham United at home in the fourth round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday evening.

Pochettino’s side will head into the cup tie at the Wembley Stadium in London on the back of a 4-1 hammering of Liverpool at home.

Harry Kane scored yet again for Spurs, as the England international striker found the net twice.

The 24-year-old did not complete the match and was taken off after 88 minutes, and Spurs manager Pochettino has suggested that the striker could be rested against the Hammers.

“Yes, maybe, yes,” Pochettino told Football.London when asked if he will rest Kane against West Ham. “We have ahead many games, Wednesday then Manchester United at the weekend and Real Madrid.

“We finish the weekend with Crystal Palace. It’s important to know that he played two games for the national team before Bournemouth.

“It’s been a massive effort from him, but his performance in that way he’s so professional. But he’s not a machine and maybe Wednesday to rest.”

Kane is one of the best strikers in the Premier League, and him not playing this Wednesday evening is certainly going to a boost for West Ham.

However, Fernando Llorente is an able back-up, and the Spain international striker is more than capable of punishing the Hammers if they make any mistakes at the back.
