Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has suggested to The Mirror that Chelsea are now their biggest rivals, not Arsenal.

Spurs and Arsenal are bitter North London rivals and have been so for decades, but Tottenham manager Pochettino has suggested that Chelsea are now their main rivals in London.

The Argentine boss has pointed out that Chelsea have been going strong in recent years, while Arsenal have finished below Tottenham two seasons in a row after dominating the North London rivalry for two decades.

Pochettino told The Mirror: “It’s a good signal our fans want more every season and with rivalry, always you look at the teams above you.

“For us, Chelsea, Arsenal and West Ham have been our biggest rivals. But I think that has changed a bit because of our positions in the table.

“In the last few years Chelsea were always on the top and Arsenal, after 21 or 22 years, were below us again.”

Sign of the times?

Chelsea have suffered dips, but they have only been temporary, with the Blues still winning the Premier League title and competing in the Champions League.

Arsenal have not won in the league title since 2004 and are not even playing in the Champions League.

It is a sign of the times that Tottenham manager Pochettino thinks that the Gunners are no longer their main rivals in London.

However, Arsenal are doing well at the moment and could end up in the top four of the Premier League this season.
