Tottenham Hotspur have drawn their last three competitive matches.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has suggested to The Independent that failing to cope with the international break is a factor behind the team’s disappointing recent results.
The North London outfit have failed to win any of their last three competitive matches, having got the better of Manchester City 2-0 at White Hart Lane in the Premier League at the start of the month.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side drew 1-1 with West Bromwich Albion away from home at The Hawthorns in the league after the international break.
Spurs then played out a goalless draw with Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen away from home in Germany in Champions League Group E.
Tottenham failed to win again at the weekend, playing out a goalless draw with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in the Premier League.
Pochettino has suggested that fatigue and failure to cope with the international break could be a factor in Tottenham’s recent disappointing results.
“After the international break we suffer a lot of problems with our players that were involved in the internationals,” Pochettino told The Independent.
“But that is the skill of [handling] international duty and we need to accept that and try to manage the situation in a better way.
“We play against teams like West Bromwich and Bournemouth that are very intense, physical, aggressive teams and when you play Champions League, the physical and mental impact is always massive and when you repeat or play every three days it’s always difficult.
“For that you need the depth of squad and all players really ready to play, but we are happy. That process is normal. When you cannot win it’s important not to lose and keep going.”
Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 19 points from nine matches, just a point behind leaders Manchester City.
