Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has admitted to Football.London that he was fuming at his side for throwing away a lead against Wolverhampton Wanderers recently.

Tottenham were beaten 3-1 by Wolves at Wembley in their last match of 2018, with Pochettino’s side throwing away a lead in the contest.

Spurs failed to even register a shot on target in the second half of their match against Wolves.

Pochettino felt that Tottenham showed a lack of focus in the defeat.

However, Tottenham ran out 3-0 winners over Cardiff City yesterday to get back to winning ways.

And Pochettino claims that Spurs were back to their best against the Bluebirds, as they picked up a comfortable win.

“When you assess the game against Wolves it was completely unfair,” he said.

“I think we played much, much better than Wolves but I think we dropped in our concentration in the last 20 minutes and we conceded three goals. When you see the data that we ran more than them, you say no, it wasn’t a problem that we were tired, just a concentration problem.

“It’s terrible when a team like us didn’t get a shot on target in the second half, because we showed a lack of discipline, in both ways. Today so pleased because from the beginning the team showed massive energy. I think that is the team we want and expect to see and perform on the pitch.”

Spurs’ defeat to Wolves saw them take on board a lot of criticism, but Pochettino’s side responded in the best manner.

Tottenham were brilliant against Cardiff, as they cruised to three points which has lifted them back up to second in the Premier League table.
