Mauricio Pochettino has showered praise on Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies after his side defeated Everton 3-0 away to Goodison Park on Saturday in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old left back joined Spurs in 2014 from Swansea City, and has established himself as a very reliable defender for Spurs.
The Wales international is usually the club’s second choice left-back behind Danny Rose, but has always delivered whenever he has been called upon.
With Rose injured now, Davies is getting regular games under his belt, and he is growing in confidence with every single game.
Tottenham produced a fantastic all-round performance against Everton, and Davies was one of the top performers during the match.
According to whoscored.com, Davies made four key passes, and provided one assist as well. Defensively, he made six clearances and made one tackle during the match.
It was a tidy performance from him, and Pochettino was full of praise for the Welshman after the game. He has hailed him as a “great professional” and a “great player”, and said that it was “fantastic” against the Toffees.
“I don’t know. For me it’s difficult to judge,” Pochettino replied, as quoted by Football London, when asked whether Davies is playing the best football of his career right now.
“I think he was fantastic, not only today but in the last three seasons from the day he arrived, on the bench, out of the squad or playing, he’s a great professional, a great player and a great man. Today he was top.”
