Tottenham Hotspur attacker Marcus Edwards appears to be one of the brightest talents in Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s academy.
It no longer makes sense for Mauricio Pochettino to have Georges-Kevin N’Koudou ahead of Marcus Edwards in the pecking order at Tottenham Hotspur.
N’Koudou was brought to Spurs back in the summer 2016, after the Lilywhites’ scouts were impressed with his performances for Marseille.
The French winger looked to be one of the brightest talents in Ligue 1, but he has failed to show that he has what it takes to make the grade at Spurs.
N’Koudou’s chances have admittedly been limited, but when he has been introduced from the substitutes’ bench he has failed to impress.
The 22-year-old’s latest showing, as Spurs looked to get back into the game against West Ham United, rather encapsulated his career in England so far.
With West Ham leading 3-2, N’Koudou was thrown on to help rescue the game for Spurs – but with his first touch, he simply ran the ball out of play under no pressure.
It seems highly unlikely that N’Koudou will ever develop into a regular starter at Spurs, and Pochettino should now consider giving his opportunities to Edwards.
Edwards looks to be one of the most exciting talents in Tottenham’s youth academy, and his development would surely be helped if he was regularly exposed to first-team life, at the expense of N’Koudou.
