The right-back left Tottenham Hotspur for Atletico Madrid yesterday.

Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media in Singapore today, and opened up on Kieran Trippier’s exit from Tottenham, sharing what the right-back told him before leaving.
Trippier joined Atletico Madrid for £20 million yesterday, in a deal that saw Spurs make a today £16.5 million profit on the England international.
The 28-year-old joined Tottenham from Burnley in the summer of 2015 for just £3.5 million, and he went on to make 114 appearances in all competitions for the north London outfit.
His form dipped dramatically last season, however, so moving him on now for £20 million seems to make perfect sense for Spurs.
Pochettino spoke to the press today, and suggested that it was time for Trippier to experience a new challenge in his career, as quoted by Football.London:

“Like Kieran told me, he loves working with Tottenham but at 28 you need to discover new challenges. It’s inside you and you need to accept how you feel.”
After his poor form last season, Trippier will now have a lot to prove in Spain.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are left with Serge Aurier, Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth as right-back options, so it is unlikely that Pochettino will be looking to strengthen in that department this summer.
