Tottenham Hotspur have failed to bring in a new signing for the past two transfer windows.

Mauricio Pochettino has told Football London that he wants to hear a new Tottenham Hotspur signing state that they are joining the club to win the Premier League title in the future.

Pochettino has faced some criticism over the past week, as Tottenham’s wait for a trophy looks set to continue.

Spurs have not lifted silverware since 2008, when they won the League Cup, and they have now excited two competitions in a matter of days.

Pochettino insists that Tottenham are not yet under pressure to lift trophies though.

And the Argentine boss says that Spurs still have work to do before they reach the ‘last level’.

“We need to arrive the day, that will be the day that it clicks, the day we sign a player and the player says, ‘I am signing for Tottenham because I want to win titles’, that is going to be the day the club is in the last level,” Pochettino explained.

“If you listen to me in the last four and a half years we are always helping the club to finish the stadium, to finish the training ground, to help the club on the financial side, to be in the top four four and a half years ago was a dream, to be consistent in top four, to play in Champions League and have the capacity to show Europe and the world Tottenham is alive and there.

“When we arrive at new stadium we will be one of the most exciting clubs. If you sign for Tottenham and your introduction is going to be in this amazing stadium, you are going to say , ‘I want to come here because I want to win titles’.

Tottenham have not even had the chance to hear a new signing say those words for over a year, as they have stood still in the transfer market.

Spurs’ last addition was Lucas Moura, who arrived back in January 2018.

And Tottenham look set to go the entirety of this campaign without making a signing, as they do not appear to close to making any additions this month.
