Tottenham Hotspur were beaten in the last minute, as Liverpool won 2-1 against Mauricio Pochettino’s side at Anfield yesterday.

Mauricio Pochettino has told Football London that Tottenham Hotspur were in reflective mood in the Anfield dressing room, after their defeat to Liverpool.

Tottenham suffered a loss in the most heartbreaking of circumstances, as a goalkeeping error from Hugo Lloris in the last minute cost them a point against Liverpool.

The Reds won the contest 2-1, but Spurs arguably should have wrapped up the three points in the closing stages.

Tottenham missed multiple chances to seal the victory, and were made to pay as Toby Alderweireld scored a dramatic late own goal.

Spurs have now lost four of their last five league matches, and their place in the top four is under serious threat.

But Pochettino has insisted to Tottenham’s players that they are still in a good position this season.

“I think we were talking a lot and we were talking now in the dressing room that we are in the top four, in the quarter-finals of the Champions League,” Pochettino said.

“I think we have ahead seven games in the Premier League. We need to forget everything and be focused that we have ahead a mini-league that starts on Wednesday that must be a big boost for everyone.”

Tottenham do have the boost of moving to their new stadium, with a match against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night now looking like a must win fixture.

Spurs will then go on to face Manchester City in the Champions League, as they look to pull off an upset and progress in Europe.
