Tottenham Hotspur have evolved beyond all recognition under Mauricio Pochettino.
Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media today, ahead of his side’s Champions League clash with Ajax tomorrow night, and shared what he told Daniel Levy about the Tottenham squad during their first ever meeting, as quoted by Football.London.
The Argentine took over as manager of Spurs in May 2014, and despite the fact that he has not yet guided them to a major trophy, he has clearly taken them to an entirely different level.
Tottenham have qualified for the Champions League for the last three seasons, and are on course to make it four in a row this time around.
The north London outfit are now considered to be one of the best teams in England, if not Europe, and Pochettino deserves great credit for the manner in which he has transformed the football club.
The 47-year-old addressed the media today, and highlighted just how far Tottenham have come, opening up on the first meeting that he ever shared with club chairman Daniel Levy, as quoted by Football.London:
“My first meeting with Daniel Levy was in his house. He was without shoes, he was in his pyjamas. We were talking my feeling about the Spurs squad. They showed me there were more than 30/35 players. I said it’s nearly an NFL team. How are you going to manage that? We were talking about our ideas and how we could share those ideas. The principle objective to help the team finish the training ground and stadium but remain competitive.”
Tottenham are well on their way to achieving success, but they must surely win a trophy sooner rather than later, if Pochetitno is to be classed as a truly great manager.
And it seems as thought hey have every chance of doing just that this term, with just three games separating them from Champions League glory.
