Tottenham Hotspur were unlucky not to progress through to the final of the Carabao Cup last night.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s defeat to Chelsea on penalties in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup last night, and shared how he joked with his assistant Jesus Perez about how the lack of an away goal rule in the competition cost his side big time, as quoted by Football.London.
Spurs have not won a trophy since 2008, and their chances of ending that drought were hit with a major blow last night, after missing out on a place in the final of the Carabao Cup.
The Lilywhites competed against the Blues last night, but eventually fell short, although they are well within their rights to feel slightly peeved.
The competition rules changed at the start of this season, with the away goal rule and extra-time being scrapped.
And Pochettino told reporters how he shared a joke with his assistant after the game regarding how unlucky his Tottenham side were not to progress through to the final of the competition, as quoted by Football.London:

“We were joking a bit, with Jesus, in the Copa del Rey in Spain, and other competitions in Europe, if you score away from home and it’s 2-2 at the end of 180 minutes, I think the team who scored away from home goes through to the final. I was joking with Jesus about that. A little bit unlucky.”
Tottenham’s season is far from over, however.
Pochettino’s men are still in with a shout of winning the league, and are actively involved in the FA Cup and Champions League.
This season could still be a successful one for Spurs. The players must continue to work had, and put last night’s defeat behind them as soon as possible.
