Dele Alli’s form has dipped at an alarming rate for a number of months now as Tottenham Hotspur fans are hoping he can get his mojo back.

Mauricio Pochettino has shared that he has had ‘conversations’ with the out-of-form Tottenham ace Dele Alli and he thinks things are about to change in regards to his form.

The Spurs boss thinks that Alli is ‘very close’ to returning back to his best, as his performances since last season has seen him being questioned, as he recently lost his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

In previous years, Alli has been a regular under Southgate, but even he couldn’t ignore the poor run of form he has been on, so he opted against selecting him for the Three Lions’ recent international outing.

Ahead of Tottenham’s clash against bottom-of-the-table Watford at the weekend, Pochettino believes that Alli’s work rate is indicating to him that the best of him might return pretty soon.

“I had some conversations with Dele,” Pochettino told Football.London. “Like the last two or three years. It’s a process always, always it’s about time.

“He’s young, 23, but I love the way he’s working in the past few months, working hard to be the best, to find the best form. That is a process that needs time too. It’s not now I want I get. It’s about working consistently and then suddenly the form you want arrives.

“I think he’s very close. He is doing well. It was a good opportunity for him in these two weeks to work so hard to make clear things in his head and for us to help him find his best form.”

What has perhaps disappointed Tottenham fans the most is that Alli has lost that goalscoring instinct he used to have during his early years.

From making a late run into the box to being at the far stick and putting the ball into the back of the net, he was always a threat in the attacking third.

But that seems to have gone out of his game and he will be hoping his fortunes and Tottenham’s luck does change in these coming weeks because they both need it pretty badly.
