The Tottenham Hotspur manager has done an incredible job at the club.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino sat down for an exclusive interview with Inside the Mind on NBC Sports, and shared how one small change that he made when he took over as manager of the football club made a big impression on Daniel Levy.

The Argentine has worked wonders at Spurs since taking over back in the summer of 2014, and his side are now considered to be genuine challengers for major honours both domestically and on the continent.

Whilst Poch has made some big changes at Tottenham in methods of training and application on the pitch, it was something small that grabbed the attention of the club’s chairman Daniel Levy.

The Spurs boss told Inside the Mind on NBC Sports how he made it compulsory for every single player to shake hands with each other when they met up in the mornings:

“I remember when we arrived here it wasn’t compulsory to shake hands, but we started to behave like this and we shake hands, every single person and player when we arrive to the dressing room and in the morning at breakfast. I remember one day in the first few weeks we were having a lunch with Daniel and every single player that arrived shook hands with the chairman. Daniel said to me, ‘Mauricio, is that compulsory? Is that a new rule?’ No, that’s respect.”

Tottenham haven’t won a trophy since 2008, and it seems as though this year will be their best chance of ending that barren run.

They currently sit in third spot in the Premier League table, nine points adrift of league leaders Liverpool, and are still in with a chance of winning all three cup competitions.

The small change that Pochettino made nearly five years ago might not be heralded as a major turning point, but it is that exact discipline and respect that typifies everything good that Spurs do on the pitch to this day.
