Mauricio Pochettino shares his verdict on David Moyes’ impact at West Ham United

Tottenham Hotspur take on West Ham United in the Premier League this evening.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told The Telegraph that he thinks West Ham United have ‘improved a lot’ with David Moyes at the helm.

Spurs are in Premier League action again tonight, as they host West Ham at Wembley Stadium just 48 hours after beating Swansea 2-0 at the Liberty Stadium.

The Hammers themselves played on Tuesday night too, beating West Bromwich Albion 2-1 at the London Stadium thanks to a second half brace – including a last-gasp winner – from Andy Carroll.

This the third time the two sides have met this season, after Tottenham beat West Ham 3-2 away from home back in September, before losing 3-2 in the Carabao Cup at Wembley after being 2-0 up at half time.

A lot has changed at West Ham since then, as Slaven Bilic has lost his job as manager and been replaced by David Moyes, who has led something of a turnaround with the Hammers.

West Ham won just two league games this season under Bilic, but have now won three of the last six under Moyes, and are attempting to move away from the relegation zone.

Ahead of tonight’s game, Pochettino has told The Telegraph that he thinks West Ham have ‘improved a lot’ since appointing Moyes, and thinks it will be a ‘very testing’ game this evening.

Pochettino also denies that the game will be a chance for revenge for Spurs from their Carabao Cup collapse, but wants to win in order to continue the pursuit of a top four spot.

“The Carabao Cup was not bottom of our priorities at all,” said Pochettino. “It was 2-0 at half time and we believed the game was over. It was 3-2 in the end and it was a massive mistake.”

“But this game is not about revenge. Now it is the Premier League and we need to win because we have to fight for the top four. It is so important to get three points. I would sign now to be two goals up at half time and then we need to be more clever. West Ham have improved a lot with David Moyes and I think it will be very testing,” he added.
