Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media in the aftermath of yesterday’s superb win away at Chelsea, and offered high words of praise for Dele Alli, claiming that there is too much pressure on the youngster’s shoulders, as quoted by Football.London.

The 21-year-old was at his very best at Stamford Bridge yesterday, scoring twice in the second-half – two goals that earned Spurs their first win at Stamford Bridge since 1990.

Dele has received criticism from some sections of the media this season, but there really is too much expected of him.

His stats this season are still incredibly impressive. He has chalked up 12 goals and 16 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions, and it is a sign of his brilliance that he has still had questions asked of him regarding his ability this season.

Pochettino spoke to reporters after his side’s 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge, and praised Dele, whilst suggesting that the youngster is under too much pressure, as quoted by Football.London:

“I’m very, very pleased. It’s been a tough period for him, but for no doubt about his talent, his character. I’m so happy for him because he deserved it and he worked hard. In the end, he’s a great talent, only 21-years-old, and sometimes we lose the focus on that. He’s only 21. Sometimes the expectation is too much. Too much pressure.”

Next up for Spurs is a trip to Stoke City on Saturday, and Dele will be looking to fire his side to another win, as they look to secure Champions League football once again for next season.
