Mauricio Pochettino says Tottenham ace Victor Wanyama could be back this weekend

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been out of action for over two months.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino provided an injury update, when speaking to reporters today, and suggested that Victor Wanyama will be back in contention to play against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup at the weekend, as quoted by Football.London.

Spurs currently have some key players out injured, with Harry Kane and Dele Alli not expected back until March.

And their problems have been exacerbated by Heung-Min Son’s absence due to international commitments.

Mousa Dembele left the club this month, so Pochettino will be desperate to have some of his currently injured players back.

And that seems to be exactly what will happen.

The Tottenham boss spoke to reporters and shared how he expects to have Victor Wanyama available for selection on Saturday for their FA Cup tie with Palace, as quoted by Football.London:

“Sissoko and Lucas are back in contention for tomorrow and Wanyama hopefully back for the weekend.”

The Kenyan has not played for Spurs since November 10th, and his return to action could not have come at a better time for the north London outfit.

Whilst he isn’t the most popular player at Tottenham, he can certainly do a job, and his return will bring a certain level of freshness and energy back to Pochettino’s midfield.

And Wanyama now has the chance of proving to Poch that he is worthy of a regular place in the side, having failed to impress the Argentine over the past 12 months.
