The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been out of action for two weeks.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters today, ahead of his side’s clash with Brighton and Hove Albion tomorrow night, and provided an injury update on Harry Winks, suggesting that the midfielder will have to be assessed before the game, as quoted by Football.London.
The 23-year-old has been in superb form this season, but he hasn’t played since April 9th when Spurs beat Manchester City in the first-leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash, and Pochettino’s side have really missed the midfield ace.
Winks has become so important to the way in which Tottenham play this season, especially after Mousa Dembele left for China in January, so having him back as soon as possible will be a huge boost for the north London outfit.
And Pochettino admitted that the England international could feature against Brighton tomorrow night, although he will have to have further tests to determine his fitness, as quoted by Football.London:
“Harry Winks we don’t now because it is a problem that is one day very good, next day not very good, it is about assessing each day. We hope he will be available for Tuesday but we are not sure.”
Tottenham are in desperate need of all three points tomorrow, as the race for the Champions League spots heats up, and in all fairness, they should easily be able to achieve that against Brighton, with or without Winks.
