Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media yesterday, and provided a fitness update on Harry Winks, suggesting that the midfielder will need to be assessed ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Southampton, as quoted by Football.London.

The central midfielder has really come of age for Spurs this season, and he has made more Premier League appearances that any other outfield player at the club, with 25 to his name thus far.

Winks is hugely popular at Tottenham, and he seems to have reached another level entirely this term.

The England international really stepped up after Mousa Dembele’s exit from Spurs in January, and he is now considered to be one of Mauricio Pochettino’s most important players.

The 23-year-old was in inspired form away at Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night, but Poch suggested that he will need to be assessed before tomorrow’s clash with Southampton, as quoted by Football.London:

“Tomorrow we need to assess Harry Winks again but it’s similar situation to before Dortmund. We were checking and assessing him.”

Tottenham fans will be hoping that Winks is fit enough to take on Southampton tomorrow, as Pochettino’s men look for a victory that would cement their place in third spot in the table.
