Watford came from behind to beat Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s disappointing 2-1 defeat to Watford at Vicarage Road yesterday, and shared how he is the only person to blame for the loss, as quoted by Football.London.

Spurs had begun their campaign with three consecutive victories, and took the lead early on in the second half against the Hornets.

Javi Gracia’s men came back to win, however, and Tottenham will be left reeling as they head into the two-week international break.

The north London outfit were unusually well below par throughout the duration of the game, and lacked any kind of intensity.

Pochettino insisted that he is the only person to blame for his side’s poor display against Watford, however, when speaking to reporters, as quoted by Football.London:

“I am very disappointed, very disappointed because if you want to be a contender, first I am the first person guilty of everything, but it is so difficult to understand because I thought we controlled the game in the first 45 minutes. To play football, to compete, it looks an easy game because we dominate the ball, we didn’t concede because Watford were poor in the first 45 minutes. We scored, but when you score you keep going and play in the same way and then we started to change and play long ball. The reality is we need to analyse who is in the pitch. Of course myself first I am responsible, the guilty one when the team loses.”

Next up for Tottenham is a huge home game against Liverpool in two week’s time, and Pochettino’s side will have to be at their very best against Jürgen Klopp’s men, if they are to have any chance of beating the Reds.
